Directions & Location

Drie Kuilen Nature Reserve is situated in the Waboom Mountains in the Montagu district, in the Western Cape. Just two hours drive from Cape Town. Drie Kuilen Nature Reserve is situated 180km from Cape Town, 70km from Montagu and only 30km from Touwsriver.

Please note that you need to take gravel roads to get to us. Our main road between gate and yard is also a gravel road but we keep it well maintained.
For more driving inside the reserve we recommend to use a car with high clearance, for certain roads a 4×4 vehicle is mandatory.

How to get here

From Cape Town: Take the N1 towards Worcester, go through Worcester and head towards De Doorns. Go through the Hex Pass after De Doorns and turn right onto the R318. Travel for 27.6km and turn left onto the gravel road following the sign “Nougaspoort”. Travel for 16km on the gravel road and the entrance to Drie Kuilen will be on you right hand side. The accommodation is 3km up from the entrance gate, follow our signs to “office”.

From Montagu: Take the R318 north/ towards N1. After about 50km on R318 you passed the Koo Valley and turn right onto a gravel road, following the sign “Nougaspoort”. Travel for 16km on the gravel road and the entrance to Drie Kuilen will be on you right hand side. The accommodation is 3km up from the entrance gate, follow our signs to “office”.

From Touwsrivier: Head south on gravel road after Logan Street, follow that gravel road for 25km, then turn right onto another gravel road. Follow this one for 3km and you find our white gate on your left hand side. The accommodation is 3km up from the entrance gate, follow our signs to “office”.
